Who You Surround Yourself With

I'll start this off with one simple statement: Who you surround yourself with, you become. If you spend time with negative, jealous, insecure, and destructive people, it will affect you in that way. Let's say you're frequently around someone who complains a lot... pretty soon, you might find yourself complaining more and more.  If you subject yourself to peers who are positive, encouraging, uplifting, and honest, the same thing will take place.

I think a big part of growing involves reflection in all aspects of your life, including friends. Taking the time to determine how each person in your life truly affects you. Do these people propel you forward toward your goals and support your ambitions? Are they honest with you? Does the direction of their life align with your direction? It's so important to take these factors into consideration. You may have a friend who isn't even necessarily a straight up jerk, but they discourage your goals or ideas and drain your energy. It's still a toxic energy swirling around.

One super positive thing I've noticed over time is that once you start living out your truth, you start to attract like-minded friends who are seeking the same enlightenment. It can be difficult letting go of the friends who aren't in your best interest, but surrounding yourself with only the right people is a whole game changer. Surround yourself with people you admire and look up to; people who possess qualities you'd like to see within yourself. Strive to spend time your with those who bring out the best in you, not the worst. Don't waste time with anyone who doesn't speak to your soul. You deserve to be uplifted and encouraged.
