Don't Worry, Be Happy


If I'm being honest, I'm a total W O R R Y W A R T. I worry about the smallest details, the future, and petty things that I shouldn't even think twice about. Why? Couldn't tell you. I suppose I have a slight fear in failure and disappointment.  I have been trying my best to not worry so much as of lately, but it is a struggle at times. I catch myself in the act of getting so worked up, but then I remind myself to let it go and that everything will be A-OK. Worrying leads to stress, and usually it's unnecessary stress. It's a waste of thought and energy, and so I'm here today with a few reasons as to why you should stop.

Focus only on what you can control
Of course there are many things in life that are completely out of our control. For instance, the future. It's out of our reach, so why obsess over it. There are so many maybe's and might's that could occur, but who knows what will truly take place? Getting caught up in the what if's will only ruin your right now. Stop visualizing all that could go wrong - because it probably won't - and enjoy the moment, the here and now. Focusing only on what you can control will save you so much worry and stress because you'll realize that what's going to happen is what's going to happen and that's that. If anything, you can shift that negative worrisome energy into something productive and positive, working towards what you WANT, leading you away from what you were originally worried about.

Worrying for nothing
Many of the future scenarios we worry about never actually happen. Our imagination is so much more worse that the reality, and worrying tends to have a bit of a snowball effect: one worry leads to another and soon it becomes the end of the world. However, chances are the likelihood of the thing you are worrying about occurring is very small and the problem is much smaller than it seems.

Bad for your health
Believe it or not, all that constant worrying is actually bad for your health - physically and mentally, and you can read more in depth about it here. Trouble with decision making, sleeping, and general stress are all at play when you start worrying more. So get some sunshine, drink some coffee or tea, and let your worries melt away. Oh, and don't forget to just relax and B R E A T H E.
