Blogger Q&A

Awhile back, I was reached out to and told that I should do a Q&A, here, on my blog. I was a little hesitant toward the whole idea because I didn't think I would get very many questions and responses but I figured why not. Turns out I was actually blown away with how many I received! I don't plan on doing these sort of things often, but since I love watching and reading others' Q&A's, I thought I'd give it a go.

Q. "What are your current goals/aspirations?"
I have so many... But to break it down and keep it short, I would say that short-term goals include a successful trip across the country this summer, take on more photography clients this year, starting up my YouTube channel and continuing to grow my "The Ivory Fawn" community, continue to teach myself the French language, reaching my "money-saved" goal for the year, and figuring out + planning things for 2018 - kind of vague, I know! Long term goals would include opening a coffee shop someday, taking a road trip across the country from coast to coast, living in Europe for 1+ years, and becoming a 100% self-employed freelance writer and photographer.

Q. "How to start a blog?"
Oh, man... I could (should) probably just write a complete separate blog post on this. First things first, figure out which platform fits your needs the most. A few to consider would be SquareSpace, Wix, Blogger, Tumblr, and WordPress. Then I would say it's important to figure out what exactly you want your blog to be about and stick with it. What audience are you trying to aim for? Always remember that blogging is a lot more work than one would think so be ready to put in some major time and effort if you want to to grow. And lastly, stop with the excuses and just simply start!

Q. "What are your favorite things to do? Also, favorite book, tv show, and movie!"
Favorite things to do...spending time with family, hiking, traveling, capturing + editing photos, writing, reading, making art, watching movies, getting coffee with friends, and learning! Favorite book? This will be hard because I can't pick just one. The Harry Potter series (forever love), Wild by Cheryl Strayed,  Adulting by Kelly Williams Brown, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Best of Me by Nicholas Sparks (although mega sad), and The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. And many, many more. I'm always open to suggestions :-) Favorite TV shows would consist of Grey's Anatomy and Stranger Things. Oh my gosh, and That 70's Show. Favorite movie... another hard one! Harry Potter series, Leap Year, The Holiday, The Devil Wears Prada, Edward Scissor Hands, and The Proposal.

Q. "Favorite musical artist, tips and tricks for blogging, how to get engagement and promote your blog?"
Favorite music artist of all-time would most definitely be Florence and the Machine! Tips for blogging... be consistent with posting. Figure out your niche and run with it. When you get writers block, push through. I also suggest learning how to code. Although tricky and confusing to learn, it will help with creating and designing. Engagement is just something I feel that takes time, but it helps to find other bloggers and engage with them on their blogs. Get what you give.

Q. "What do you enjoy?"
This is a broad question, but I enjoy many things! Rainy days, MINI Coopers, lattes, hiking, family time, music, macarons, taking photos, hydrangeas, coffee shops, road trips, pistachio ice cream, autumn and all things spooky, light green Fiat 500s, the seaside, bookshops, foggy mornings, film photography, vintage things, flipping through old family photos, spending time with friends, the feeling after a long hike, willow trees, typewriters, and many more. Hope this gives you an idea ;-)

Q. "What is your favorite food?"
I'm a big lover of pasta, oh yes I am, and I also have a huge sweet tooth for ice cream.

Q. "If you could send a message to the entire world, what would you say in 30 seconds?"
I would say: Please love each other and accept one another as they are. If you're going through a rough time right now, remember it's temporary and it's meant to teach you something and make you stronger. Don't hold onto people who treat you less than you deserve. Pay attention to what's going on in the world and stand up for what is right. Know your worth and don't lose your magic. Be nice to Mother Earth. And just remember that love always wins.

Q. "What are your top 3 favorite albums of all time?"
This is such a hard one! "Lungs" by Florence and the Machine is definitely my number one. That entire album is so magical. "It's Blitz!" by Yeah Yeah Yeahs is another great one, and "Cleopatra" by The Lumineers is wonderful as well. I have to mention one more, a fourth. "Bloom" by Beach House is absolutely brilliant.

Q. "What are your favorite weekend/day off actives?"
I absolutely love going to my local Barnes and Noble with my husband and sitting in the Starbucks café. I don't know what it is, but the atmosphere is just so good and I love getting drinks and sharing conversation. I also love spending days off cleaning my home. Cleaning, for me, is so therapeutic and I love to just sit down afterwards and feel good about having a clean house.

Q. "What are your essentials you bring with you everywhere?
Usually my phone, ID's, and chap stick! If I'll be gone the entire day, I like to keep  a hair brush in my purse because I swear my hair is prone to tangles and it really bothers me, a big hair clip, and also a bottle of lavender hand sanitizer.

Q. "What's your favorite skincare?"
I've been using Burt's Bees skin products for over a year now and I absolutely love them! Morning and night I use the Rosewater Toner, and in the shower I use the Soap Bark & Chamomile cleanser.

Q. "Are you from Ohio? How do you like it and how does it inspire your work?"
I am actually not from Ohio, but am currently residing here for my medical job. It's not too bad - I love the sunflowers, quirkiness and character in the area!

Q. "Where are you from?"
I'm from the Midwest! Iowa, to be exact, but I do not live there anymore.

Q. "What are your favorite actors? What is your favorite shop? What country do you want to travel to next and why? What is your dream job?"
Favorite actors... Anne Hathaway and Nicole Kidman, hands down. My current favorite shops would be ASOS, Urban Outfitters, and Luna Botanical Gifts (local)! I would LOVE to visit (and even call home for awhile) England, Norway or Ireland. My dream job would be two things (both of which I plan to do): A self-employed  photographer and writer who travels a lot, and a coffee shop owner.
