Eco-Friendly Charcoal Face Mask + Face Bar Review

Recently, I discovered the eco-friendly makeup brand Beautycounter. I was at a Women's Fall Expo event and met with two of the sales representatives. They introduced me to their company and informed me that their products were not only vegan and animal cruelty-free, but also free of many of the chemicals in the makeup market today. I was extremely eager to test out a few of their products and share my thoughts you with guys as their stuff is safer to use, aka less toxins, with a long list of ingredients they never use. Beautycounter has done their research, and their products are designed to actually work as well as the high performance products from Sephora and Ulta without containing all the extra "sh!t storm" chemicals. A few quick facts to start though first. Did you know that the European Union has banned more than 1,300 chemicals while the U.S. has only banned about 11? The U.S. has not passed a federal law since 1938 to regulate the safety of ingredients in personal care. Beautycare, however, has a Never List made up more than 1,500 chemicals (including over 1,400 chemicals banned by the European Union) that they never use in their products.

I was really intrigued by the charcoal face mask and charcoal face bar. Charcoal and activated charcoal are becoming more and more popular in the natural beauty world and for good reason. Charcoal is great for the skin care because it literally pulls the gunk out of our pores to purify skin. I started out by using the charcoal face bar first, lathering the soap with water and gently massaging onto my face. I rinsed my face and patted dry with a towel. Unlike most bars of soap, this one did not leave my skin feeling dry. Next I applied a generous layer of the charcoal face mask. The first thing I noticed about the mask is that it had a minty refreshing scent. I let that sit for about 10 minutes and then rinsed with warm water and patted dry. The mask rinsed off really well, something I have had trouble with in the past with other face masks. I was overall pleased, and while I'm not a professional when it comes to skincare, I would recommend this product. Typically, I don't do many beauty product reviews, however, I am 100% keen on discussing companies that are Eco-Friendly and vegan.
