Minimalist Makeup Brush Cleaning HACK!!

For the longest time, I've been searching for better methods to clean my makeup brushes and I'm usually always left disappointed. I've purchased a makeup brush cleaning spray but unfortunately that only resulted in a lot of paper towels used up and makeup still left deep in the brush. I've tried the baby shampoo method. I've tried Pinterest tips and tricks that had me convinced they were sure to work. Nothing. Nothing was working for me to my satisfaction until recently when I came across probably the simplest trick in the book that actually worked and all it consisted of was a bar of soap. (Shout out to Sarah Nourse on Youtube!) It's important to clean your brushes weekly or bi-weekly because after a couple weeks of use, bacteria, bits of makeup, dirt, and your face's natural oils start to build up and can lead to clogged pores and pesky breakouts. Keeping your makeup brushes clean will also help to soften the bristles and prevent makeup colors from mixing, and, not to mention, quality brushes can be expensive, so the better you take care of them, the longer they will last.

Begin by turning the sink faucet on to lukewarm water. Take a bar of soap and one of your brushes and begin gently scrubbing back and forth. Scrub until you no longer see makeup from the brush running onto the bar of soap (this will not take long). Rinse with lukewarm water and use your fingers to ring out the bristles, squeezing out any excess water. Lay flat on a cloth to try and note that your brushes will need a few hours to dry so wash them at night or after you've applied your makeup that day. Honestly it took me about five minutes to completely clean my entire brush set and they were actually clean. This is perfect for me because I no longer buy paper towels and I like to have extra bottles sitting in my bathroom closet. This trick is so simple and your brushes will be clean as a whistle, and you won't have to purchase expensive makeup brush cleaning products. Maybe you already have a method that words best for you and that's fine, but if you're searching for something super simple and minimal, I definitely encourage to give this a try!
